Medium-sweet Riesling from Central Otago

Central Otago is so famous for Pinot Noir that we sometimes forget that it produces excellent white aromatic wines too -  Today we've opened up a beautiful small volume Riesling.

Archangel is named in honour of two young Polish girls, Halina and Stefania forced from their homes during WWII to a labour camp in Arkhangel'sk Siberia. Their tale takes them to a refugee camp in Africa, and the Royal Airforce in England where they met their husbands-to-be, two Polish airforce officers. Fast forward to the next generation, Ian and Mary are the son & daughters of our two heroines, settling on 23 hectare plot of land to be called Archangel in Central Otago, roughly halfway between the top of Lake Dunstan and Wanaka.

Pale gold in colour, aromas of papaya, citrus and aromatic herbs. Medium sweet but in no way cloying to taste, bright tangy grapefruit, lemon peel, honeysuckle flavours mingle with a fresh drying chalky minerality on the finish.

Only around 200 cases made.
