Beronia Rioja Reserva

$32.30
Country / Region: Spain
Vineyard: Gonzales Byas
Vintage: 2011

Full bodied, generously oaked Rioja

Beronia was started in the 1970's by a group of friends in Spain who all had a love of good food and wine. They created a modern winery, and work with several growers close to the property, as is common in Rioja (There are about 600 wineries in Rioja, but up to 20,000 growers). 10 years later, Gonzalez Byas, one of the oldest Sherry houses still operating, saw the potential of the site and purchased the Bodega, bringing their technical expertise to the wines, and today Beronia is becoming a major name in Rioja.

The wines have been reviewed several times by Robert Parker and Wine Enthusiast, each time receiving 90+ points.

The 2011 vintage is 93% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano and 2% Mazuelo. The wine is aged 18 months in American and French oak barrels, followed by 20 months ageing in bottle before release - well beyond the requirements for a Reserva level wine.
