Bodegas Aragonesas Coto de Hayas Fagus

$47.00 / unit (case of 12)
Country / Region: Spain
Vineyard: Coto de Hayas
Varietal: Garnacha
Vintage: 2013

Powerful, concentrated, and balanced wine - only the best grapes from the lowest yielding plants are selected for this Garnacha from the Ebro River Valley

In Europe, Bodegas Aragonesas is considered a young and emergent wine cellar. Founded in 1984.  They now produce over 60% of the wine in the Campo de Borja region.    Campo de Borja is in the Ebro River Valley in Northern Spain -- down stream from Rioja.  Campo de Borja is hotter than Rioja where Grenache is considered kingly.

2009 was an exceptional vintage in the Campo de Borja region.    This is made of 100% Garnacha (Grenache) which has been hand picked from the oldest plants with the lowest yields.

Tasting notes

5 April 2014 by Katie Merrie

The colour of this wine is intense cherry red with aromas of coffee, ripe red and black fruits of cherry and plum.   This is a powerful wine on the palate with concentration, ripe blueberry, blackberry and dark plum .  A balanced with round and full tannins.    This wine is still young and could go down for a couple years yet.
