A quaffing rustic Spanish Monastrell - big bang for buck!

Molino Loco translates as 'Crazy Windmill', aptly describing the windmill that stands alone at Bodegas Castano. Known to move when there is not a breath of wind in the air. Monastrell, also known as Mourvedre (France) and Mataro (Australia), in France it forms the 'M' of GSM blends of the Southern Rhone and also the famous wines of Bandol. Here in Yecla region where the grapes thrive in the hot dry hills behind the town of Valencia in South-East Spain.

100% Monastrell, dark ruby red colour, aromas of black plum and damp earth. Flavours of blackberry, green olive, tar and dusty tannins.

Tasting notes

13 December 2013 by Katie Hutton

Fleshy, red berry aromas, a hint of rose perfume and rustic, earthy notes on the nose. Medium body with more sweet and fleshy red fruits, subtle licorice and sour plum flavours. Delicate, rounded tannins finishing dry on the palate. Great match with steak or beef dishes.
