Cottier Pinot Gris

Country / Region: New Zealand
Vineyard: Cottier
Varietal: Pinot Gris
Vintage: 2013

A serious Gris from Gladstone, Wairarapa!

Tasting Note:

Two thirds slowly fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel but one third in old oak that adds considerable improvement in texture and aromatic influence.  Medium gold in colour, aromas of baked pear and raisin pastries, with more than a whiff of smoke.

Technically dry at 4.9g/l but generous in mouth-feel with savoury stone fruits drizzled with a beeswax candle, and finishing with lifted spices and smoky hay.  A serious Gris!
