About Domaine de Durban
Domaine de Durban was first founded on the site of an old abbey in 1159, based on a hillside plateau protected from the harsh Mistral winds, and perched above the town of Beaumes-de-Venise. The town is best known for the iconic dessert wines made from old Muscat-a-petit grains vines in what is called 'Vin Doux Natural' where sweet muscat wine is fortified with alcohol - resulting in explosive tropical fruit flavours and the perfect accompaniment to custard based desserts and fruit salads. Lesser known but also very impressive are their full flavoured reds produced from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre.
