Maison Sichel Pauillac
Declassified Pauillac - bargain wine from a great vintage
Pauillac is the most prestigious of the Bordeaux wine regions - deep gravel soils on the Left Bank that produces some of the most profound, deep savoury cedary Cabernets on offer. When a "Cru Classe" property has excess grapes they typically sell these off to other estates to keep the prices high on their own 'Grand Vin' - as much as $55 can be considered a bargain, this is less than half the price you would expect to pay for this wine if it had a different sticker on the front.
2010 is one of the great vintages in recent memory for Bordeaux, expect to see deep black fruit, olives, cassis cedar & cigar box along with full firm tannins. Decant if serving in the next year or so, or cellar happily for another 2-5+ years. Pair with roast lamb for bonus points.
