Central Otago Pinot Noir that wont break the bank

Designed as the perfect 'end of day therapy' - Craig Glasson from Lamont Wines in Bendigo Central Otago has developed a pair of wines that he calls 'friends and neighbours'. Wines designed for every day drinking while still showing regional character. At the moment that takes the form of a Marlborough Sauvignon and a Central Otago Pinot Noir.

Northeast of Cromwell, Bendigo is possibly the warmest of all the sub-regions with vines planted on gentle north facing slopes. The soils are stony which captures the extreme climates of the hot summer sun and clear colder evenings.

The wine has spent 24 days on skins and 9 months in seasoned oak.

On the nose red cherry, oak and warm spice. On the palate the ruby colour of the wine is expressed through flavours of pomegranate molasses, a touch of aniseed and generous warm toasty spice. This smooth wine has a long finish with delicate tannins and a well balanced acidity.
