Tietjen Witters Carmenere (Gisborne)

$22.80 / unit (case of 12)
Country / Region: New Zealand
Vineyard: Tietjen Witters
Varietal: Carmenere
Vintage: 2014

TW has shown that Gisborne can make a great Carmenere-usually grown in Chile although originally a French Bordeaux varietal of the Cabernet family

Winemaker Notes:

Deep garnet red, selective aromas of black plum compote, allspice and fruit cake emanate from this purple hued wine.  These rich characters are also exhibited on the palate which is velvety smooth throughout, leaving long lasting flavours of vanilla and dark berries.   This wine has been matured for 15 months in wood.

Good tannin structure which should age well for five years.

Food Match:

Wonderful with succulent lamb or beef, or with your favourite cheeses. Perfect with rich tomato and black olive based Italian dishes too!

Wine Maker:

Anita Ewart-Croy
