Chateau La Menotte Lalande de Pomerol
Hand picked from 30 year old vines, this wine is a blend of 80% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Franc that has matured for about 18 months in large neutral vats. Deep ruby with purple hues, showing aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, chocolate covered blueberries, cedar, pencil shavings, violets, and dried thyme. Medium plus bodied, with mouth filling flavors of fresh blackberry, blackcurrant, and cedar. This wine is remarkably approachable given its youth with mellow, fine grained tannins that dont feel overwhelming.
Lalande de Pomerol is one of the well recognised satellites of the Pomerol appellation, that offers a similar terroir at at a lower price point.
