Jasci & Marchesani Organic Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC
Montepulciano is the second most grown grape in Italy (behind Sangiovese), and by far the most abundant in the hills surrounding the old city of Cheti in the region of Abruzzo. A major wine region of roughly 9,000 hectares, producing 86 million litres of wine per year.
The grape is named after a stunning town in Tuscany by the same name, yet confusingly Montepulciano town does not produce wine from this grape, instead famous for 'Vino Nobile de Montepucilano' made from Sangiovese!
J&M dedicated themselves to organic wine production as early as 1960. They were ahead of the very idea of sustainable treatment, and in 1978 they received the official certification for their organic productions - the first Italian wine producer in the region to do so. Currently, the company’s vineyard extends over 33 hectares owned by our family and 7 more hectares in sharecropping.
Tasting NoteIntense ruby red with light violet highlights. Aromas of black fruits and vanilla. Full bodied, smooth, and bold with both fruit and tannins to balance it. Aged for six months in oak barrels.
