Clos Marguerite Sauvignon Blanc
A favourite here at Wineseeker - perfect balance of new and old world style
A favourite here at Wineseeker, this wine brings together the best of the old and new world styles. The Sauvignon Blanc, grown in the Awatere Valley has a wonderfully weighty texture and mouth-feel. The flavours are fresh and clean carried by a fine acidity and delicate mineral character, yet offering a sumptuous array of ripe fruit characters. Perfect as an aperitif or with seafood, shell-fish, light dishes and canapes, this wine is ideal for many occasions.
It's hard to explain how a wine can have the intensity and vivaciousness of a New Zealand white, and at the same time show the restraint and elegance that you would commonly find in the 'old world'. Clos Marguerite wines seem to consistently capture both elements, and blend them beautifully. The 2013 Sauvignon has been released for several months now, and is showing all the hallmarks of a good Marlborough vintage. True to the vintage, it is a riper style of Sav when compared to the 2012. Ripe passionfruit, fresh asparagus and mandarin mingle with lemon citrus and elegant, stony minerality on the nose. Similar flavours arise on the palate where more lemon sorbet, passionfruit and soft, integrated acidity can be found. A true terroir wine. Match Clos Marguerite Sauvignon with fresh seafood, shellfish, light dishes and canapes.
