Finca Sobreno Reserva Seleccion Especial
Deep leathery & chocolatey Tempranillo from Toro
The Toro appellation is one of the more prestigious wine regions in Northern Spain. Here is a combination of an arid continental climate with massive of sunshine during the growing season. The soils are ideal for quality wine production - a stony topsoil with a alayer of clay underneath to retain moisture in the otherwise parched conditions. The sharp drop in temperatures during the night slow down the ripening of the fruit and build a concentration and complexity of flavours, perhaps one of the reasons why the wines from this region were granted royal privileges during the Middle Ages.
'Toro' is all about one grape variety - "Tinta de Toro" - a particular type of Tempranillo with strict conditions on maximum yields. There are 1,000 differeng vine growers in the region, with a combined area of 5,500 hectares.
Finca Sobreno Reserva is 100% Tempranillo, matured half in new oak, the other half in 1-year old oak. 90% American oak and 10% French oak. Aromas of bitter dark chocolate, olives, vanilla and clove. Full flavoured and full bodied, driven by chocolate truffles, prunes, boysenberry, with dusty and leathery dry tannins. Drink now or cellar with confidence for up to 5 years.
