Bisanzio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP
Montepulciano is the second most grown grape in Italy (behind Sangiovese), and by far the most abundant in the hills surrounding the old city of Cheti in the region of Abruzzo. A major wine region of roughly 9,000 hectares, producing 86 million litres of wine per year.
The grape is named after a stunning town in Tuscany by the same name, yet confusingly Montepulciano town does not produce wine from this grape, instead famous for 'Vino Nobile de Montepucilano' made from Sangiovese!
Tasting Note
Intense red with light violet highlights. The nose has hints of mulberry and sour cherry, violet and spice. The palate is full bodied and well structured with smooth tannins with a pleasant and persistent finish. Pair with rich sauces, roasted game, and seasoned cheeses.
