Chateau Cantillac Cuvée Prestige
The new direct import from Wineseeker.
100% Merlot from 25 year old vines from the village of Sauveterre de Guyenne the 'Entre Deux Mers' sub-region on calcareous clay soils. Owned by the Fernandez family since 1956.
Tasting Note:
A deep purple Merlot displaying intense blackcurrant and blackberry notes first of all, complemented by hints of spice and vanilla. The same aromas, highlighted by fresh menthol notes, are apparent in rich, dense extract lining a well-structured palate with powerful tannins just waiting to mature. An excellently crafted wine despite this great vintage, the fruit of untiring, uncompromising labour which has enabled the typical characteristics of Merlot and the high quality of the terroir to be expressed.
