Chateau Trebiac Graves Rouge
Full bodied blend from Graves.
The sprawling manor house was built in the 17th century, the pious owner transferred ownership to Franciscan nuns to establish an orphanage, about half the estate being planted with vines. In 1982 the orphanage closed, with the Butler family taking over, restoring the winery and replanting many of the vines.
This blend of 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon is taken from old vines in the Graves sub-region, which sit on a gravel plateau, ideal soil conditions for the grapes. The wine is aged in French Oak for several months before being aged further in tank before release. Notes of dark chocolate, red fruits and toasted oak, followed by silky tannins.
