Dog Point Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc
Old oak aged for 18 months - dry minerality with concentrated fruit and full body
Dog Point is an area of Marlborough named after pioneering shepherds in the region whose dogs' either wandered off or became lost. These dogs eventually breaded to become a marauding pack that attacked the very flocks they were meant to protect. The shepherds eventually were forced to cull the dogs and thus the name became Dog Point.
This is one of the earliest private vineyards established in the Wairau Valley. Dog Point’s white wines are mostly planted on free draining silty clay loams on the flats, soils that predominantly express citrus and grapefruit flavours. The 'Section 94' is both fermented and aged 18 months in French oak, bringing a smoky, nutty, savoury and more full bodied wine. If you used to drink "Fume Blanc" then this one is for you.
