Domaine de Durban was first founded on the site of an old abbey in 1159, based on a hillside plateau protected from the harsh Mistral winds, and perched above the town of Beaumes-de-Venise.  The town is best known for the iconic dessert wines made from old Muscat-a-petit grains vines in what is called 'Vin Doux Natural' where sweet muscat wine is fortified with alcohol - resulting in explosive tropical fruit flavours and the perfect accompaniment to custard based desserts and fruit salads.  Photo below of old Muscat vines.
