Domaine Suffrene Bandol Rouge

Classic Bandol Rouge - mouth filling savoury red from Provence

Provence is best known for Rose wines, accounting for almost 90% of wine production in the region. Bandol is a major exception to this, being famous for both the Reds as well as their Roses.  The king grape here is Mourvedre rather than Grenache and Cinsault. It's a grape known for its thick skins, high tannins, deep brooding black fruit flavours and spicy notes.

55% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 10% Carignan

Partially de-stemmed, matured 18 months in oak cuves before bottling unfiltered & unfined.  Dark red in colour, rich aromas of black fruit, cherry jam and black spice. Dry and mouth filling, spicy black fruit with sumptuous tannins and long dry finish. Decant if drinking young.
