Don David Malbec

Argentinian Malbec with some 'altitude'

This wine is a great favourite here at Wineseeker, and great to have it back after a lengthy absence.

100% Malbec. 70% of the wine was matured on oak (60% French 40% American) for 12 months. Intense ruby colour. Dark fruits on the nose with hints of oak and spice. The palate is full bodied and mouth filling - blackberries, dark cherry, sweet vanilla, spice and toasted oak. Very well balanced wine with intensity and concentration.

Founded in 1892, by brothers David and Salvador Michel (hence 'Michel' Torino), Michel Torino has grown to become one of the larger wine producing operations in Argentina.

The wine for this Malbec was harvested from vineyards at more than 1700 metres above sea level in the Cafayate Valley and Calchaqui Valley in NW Argentina. The vines benefit from a very special climate with clean Andean air, warm sunny days and cool nights, allowing the grapes to reach perfect maturity while retaining vivid fruit flavors. The estate practices sustainable, environmentally friendly farming by minimizing the use of fertilizers and chemicals in the vineyard and winery.
