Fattoria San Lorenzo di Gino Verdicchio
Fattoria San Lorenzo is a third generation family winery that is completely organic and biodynamic. Enrico Crognaletti was a master cooper who founded the estate, and handed it down to his son Gino, who spent his life filling the vineyards of his estate with the best clones of Verdicchio from around the area.
This is probably the finest Verdicchio in central Italy's Le Marche region. This particular Verdicchio comes from vineyards located to the west of Ancona in the dei Castelli di Jesi region. The area's proximity to the Adriatic Sea is believed to add a touch of saltiness to the wines. Aromas of apples, sun-dried fruits and hazelnuts. Dry and crisp on the palate with flavors of melon and citrus fruits w/ an extraordinarily long finish, making this a great food wine with roast chicken, honey-baked ham or rich seafood dishes.
Vigna di Gino named after Natalino’s father, ‘Gino’, and planted with the carefully selected clones his father spent a lifetime studying. This wine is a great introduction to Verdicchio, easy to drink, simple and balanced it gives an idea about the territory and nuances of the varietal without getting too complicated.Region
