Marconi Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi-Wine-Wineseeker

Marconi Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi

'Verdicchio' translates to "Little Green One" and typically produces a straw coloured wine with green tints. Well documented in the Marche region since the 14th Century. Castelli di Jesi is arguably the most famous wine region of the inland hills of the Marche ("Mar-Kay") province of Central Italy. Legend has it that when Alarich, King of the Visigoths marched on Rome barrels of Verdicchio were provided to maintain their strength.

Typical flavours tend on the citrus and herbs, with a crispness to start and often a tangy bitter almond and marzipan on the finish.

100% Verdicchio, grown on clay soil. Fermentation takes place in steel at controlled temperature.
Straw yellow colour with delicate green and golden hues. Aromas of toasted almonds, lemon peel, sweet basil. Dry on the palate, with a generous roundness, green apple, dried herbs, and a delicate but persistent mineral finish.
