Moutere Clay Gravels | Low Cropping | Hand Harvested | Wild Ferment | Natural Spring Malo | Barrel Fermented (15% New) | Unfined | Vegan

Distinctive | Luscious | Umami

Named after Tim and Judy’s daughter Rosie. Her block sits on the hill overlooking the home block. Winemaking is very similar to our Moutere Chardonnay - 100% malolactic fermentation and only about 15% new oak. Neudorf Rosie’s Block is becoming a bit of a star in our portfolio. It has the “Moutereness” we expect of our soils and the “Neudorfness” we expect of our wine crew but it brings its own charm and exuberance to the collection.
2017 vintage produced a green/gold wine with generous mouthfeel... white peach underscored by an intriguing savoury note. A touch of citrus and notes of dill. The wine is rich but controlled. The work sleek prings to mind. A girdle of acitity keeps the full, textured, palate under control and offers a refreshing, cleansing finish. The persistent finish which leaves a satisfying trail of flavour.
Drink slightly cool, not cold and enjoy alongside chicken, grilled hoki and as a counterpoint to roast pork crackling.

"Very appetising with good beadth of fruit and no excess of acidity. Open and appealing. Great tension but with a solid core of fresh fruit. 17 points. " Jancis Robinson MW

"Light, fresh, delicate chardonnay with subtle nutty lees, oyster shell and bran biscuit flavours. Appealing purity. Quite a charming wine from a challenging vintage. When the going gets tough," Bob Campbell MW

"Bright yellow colour with light green-gold hues and some depth, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is soft and elegantly packed with aromas of yellow stonefruits in a subtle amalgam with complexing mealy notes and delicate, creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak entwined with hints of flinty lees and mineral suggestions. This has layers of detail and interest. Medium-full bodied, the palate has elegantly concentrated, gently rich and succulent flavours of stonefruits, citrus fruits and tropical fruits, melded with mealy elements and layered with creamy and nutty oak. The fruit richness and depth is balanced by fresh, lacy acidity, and the wine forms a fine core with drive and linearity. The wine carries to a long finish with flint and mineral detail. This is an elegantly concentrated, complex layered and detailed Chardonnay with subtly rich fruit on a fresh palate. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Clones Mendoza, 15, 95, 8021 and 548, from ‘Rosie’s Block’, the ‘Home Block’ and small amounts from other Moutere sites, WBP and fully indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with high solids to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months on lees in 15% new French oak with batonnage and 100% MLF. 19.0-/20 Apr 2018"  Raymond Chan 19-/20
