Ohau Gravels Pinot Gris
This wine comes from the closest wine region to Wellington being in the Horowhenua region. Ohau has been producing in the area since 2009, winning acollades and awards for their wines. The soils are similar to that of Marlborough and the climate to that of Nelson so producing some excellent quality white wines.
Raymond Chan 4 stars (18-/20)
"Bright, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour. The nose is softly full with attractively ripe fruit aromas of yellow stonefruits with honied notes, yellow florals and hints of savoury spice. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has rich, lively fruit flavours of yellow stonefruit with notes of apricot and honey, entwined with subtle yellow floral nuances. The fruit forms a rounded core with bright, zesty acidity enlivening the palate. The flavours flow with good energy along a soft-textured line, leading to an elegant, lingering finish of stonefruits and honey. This is a rich-fruited, medium-dry Pinot Gris with yellow stonefruits, honey and florals on a soft-textured, but lively palate. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next3 years. Fruit from Ohau vines 9 y.o., cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. and 9 g/L RS. 18.0-/20 Nov 2017 "
