Peregrine Pinot Noir
Always a favorite of wine enthusiasts, this 2017 vintage also conquered the jury of New Zealand Wine of the Year 2019 and received the price of Champion Organic Red Wine. A great reward for the McLachlan family and their team, who established the winery in 1998.
They have a flash cellar door, although practices in both vineyard and winery are down to earth. Goats, sheeps, cattle and chickens play an important part in taking care of the land.
This 2017 vintage is a blend of fruits sourced in Bendigo (87%), Pisa (9%) and Gibbston (4%).
Winemaking
25% whole bunch fermented with the remainder gently destemmed. Fermented in open top fermenters, and matured for 10 months in French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes
A very perfumed wine with notes of red cherries, raspberries, pot pourri, thyme and oak spices. The palate matches the nose aromatics. It has a vibrant mouthfeel with elegant tannins, and a very good length.
