Quinta dos Roques Touriga Nacional

Quinta dos Roques is a 3rd generation family owned winery in the Dão Region of Portugal working only with traditional Portuguese grape varieties. With 12 different plots totalling 40 hectares, the Roques vineyards are located at altitudes of 450 to 500m.

Touriga National is Portugal's number 1 red variety thanks to its ageworthiness and robust, intense flavours. It has long been used in the making of fortified Port wines and in the last 15 years or so is standing tall as a fine, dry red. Produced throughout Portugal, the Dão region typically displays, florals, herbal and blackcherry flavours. If you love Cabernet Sauvignon then this will blow you away!

Aged for 12 months in new French oak. This is a wine built for cellaring and the winemaker suggests up to 20 years.

Dark purple in colour, the bouquet is characteristic of the variety. A highly perfumed variety with hints of violets, pine needles and red fruit. Oak and chocolate notes are also apparent with the fruit. On the palate it is very generous and concentrated with firm tannin characteristics.
