Tanunda Hill Shiraz
A new discovery for our shelves is Tanunda Hill. This is part of the larger Blaxland wine group in South Australia, with a combined vineyard area of 600 hectares makes them the 12th largest grower in Australia. Today we are trying their single estate Shiraz from Barossa Valley.
100% Shiraz, in exactly the style you'd expect for Barossa. Generous waves of roasted dark fruit on the nose - mingling with beetroot and eucalyptus.
On the palate the fruit-fest continues, sweet red cherries and plums with hints of cardamon and chocolate and subtle oak rounding it out. Not a shy wine at 14.5% alcohol but not over cooked like many other examples.
