Turkey Flat Vineyards Rosé
Turkey Flat is based in Bethany, bordering Tanunda Creek in Barossa, South Australia. The Schultz family took over the site in the 1860s, and the current cellar door served as a butchers shop for 2 generations, then an apricot drying shed, a tractor shed, then a small office.
The oldest grape vines on the estate date back to 1847, (over 170 years!), avoiding the big vine-pull scheme of the 1980s. The Schultz family credit the deep alluvial soils, and lack of irrigation for their longevity.
Made from 100% Grenache from the hot and dry 2019 vintage, and fermented to 4g/L which makes it dry but not severely so.
Very pale and very much reminiscent of a Provencal Rosé - aromas of cranberries, dried apricots, sea salt and basil. Light and fresh, savoury on the palate featuring red currant and strawberry with a fruity dry finish.
- Grenache / Garnacha
