Smooth and fruity Merlot with some smoky funk from the Central Valley of Chile

Chile produces stellar value wines thanks to cheap land and low cost labour, along with climates and soils well suited to viticulture. Gato Negro is a 'value' range of wines from San Pedro, grown in the large Central Valley region of Chile. Translating to 'Black Cat' that started as a friendly companion to the winemaker became a good luck charm and now accompanies the wine to some 80 countries around the world.

90% Merlot picked from the Central Valley, with 10% of Chile's hallmark grape Carmenere added. Smooth and fruit driven Merlot, cold macerated fro 12 hours before fermenting at a relatively cool 28 degrees to maximise ripe fruit flavours rather than harsh tannins. Classic Chilean campfire, coconut and black fruits on the nose. Sweet blackberry and cherry on the palate with a lick of vanilla rounding out the finish.

Awarded a silver medal at the 'Concours Mondial de Bruxelles' 2017.
